I didnt want to hijack 65BRs thread, but this post sorta rides his coat tails...

Have a opportunity to buy a Gen 2 Glock 20, and I'm wondering what the top 2 or 3 carry loads for the 10mm in an unsupported chamber Glock are.

And how they compare to the top 40 S&W loads in shootability and effectiveness.

I'm only talking about defense against people, not bears, hogs, etc.

Can't advise on a holster, but I can say that for defensive use on 2 legged snakes, I have settled on a load from Underwood Ammo. Their 165 grain bonded JHP at 1400 fps will leave a mark.

Winchester's Silvertips are pretty much full-house 10mm power. I keep a stack of them in my G29 and it is very manageable.

Very good velocity/power, low flash, manageable recoil, consistent and accurate, affordable = HPR 180gr JHP.

Another vote for the Underwood ammo...Xtreme Defender or Xtreme Penetrator... I'm using the 140s in a G40 and recoil is moderate...

Holster...DeSantis Speed Scabbard and one of the their single magazine pouches or one of the clip-on kydex ones.

Glocks have always had adequate chamber support, early lots of 40 brass had some issues but not with 10mm.

The best choice for EDC is the FBI load that essentially duplicates the 40sw with a current bullet design.

I was looking for a good bullet for mine. Decided to buy a few boxes of the RA40T 40 S&W Winchester Ranger ammo. Pulled the bullets with a hammer puller and loaded them in 10mm to about 1200 fps. Recovered one that I finished off a deer with. They are wicked. Same bullet as the old Black Talon, just rebranded, and no longer coated black.

I believe you'll find, if you shoot 175 grain Silvertips over a chronograph, that they are closer to a 40 +p than they are 10mm.

I've carried 10mm and 40 S&W on duty, and much preferred the 10mm.

Or Hornady’s Critical Defense loads.

Same here. G29 stays stoked with new Silvertip 175g ammo.

Handloads used for BG push same 175ST to nearly 1400 fps.
