Earlier this week I ran across a minty Marlin Golden 39A (1965 vintage - serial# AA254xx) and was so taken with its mint condition I bought it even though it was missing the "sight-hood" and the Marlin "Bullseye" insignia had fallen out of the stock.
If anyone has a very good or newish condition sight hood or Marlin "Bullseye" I would gladly buy from you at your price before buying from Numrich Arms or one other source I was provided by other CampFirers on the rimfire thread.
TIA for any offers or leads.

I bought one of these a year or so ago.

Recently bought a bullseye plug from Midway for a 1894 .357 and I'm reminded I need to action that project. The plug will require some degree of shaping to fit properly.

Several months ago I bought a 1967 vintage 39A, it's not minty but very clean and had a steel Lyman 66 mounted on it and that sealed the deal.

EdM & Woodswalker: Thank you both for the input - reminds me - I will get a gun project now and then that "falls by the wayside" - in fact I have a couple of simple "need to do's" already.
But this Bullseye and front sight hood I am gonna get done ASAP.
Thanks again

The 1965 Marlin 39A front sight hood was the round hood not like the newer wide scan hoods you will pay dearly for a round one.

I picked up a 1950 39A a few months back it didn't have the round hood but I found one years ago and it was waiting in my deck drawer for the day I found an old 39A it's on it now.
There is one on eBay now for $75.00

Mossyoak1957: Thank you very much for those observations/bits of information.
If I understand you correctly I better find a "photo of the correct "era" (round like you describe!) sight hood and get after the correct one.
Thanks again.

Second that, I picked up,a Mountie about six weeks ago, missing the sight hood and bullseye. Bullseye was easy, just glued it in and then trimmed and filed to fit. Sight hood was more difficult, Finally found one one ebay and paid about $65 for it, a little over 10% of what I paid for the gun. All three of my older 39a models, and dad's old 336 SC have the proper round hood, which looks better than the later flat hood. The flat top hood will work but having grown up with my 68 year old 39a and Dad's 336 , just do not look right.

Jkingrph: Thank you for that advisement and heads up on the "pricey" Model 39-A sight hood as well.
It makes me wonder "where have all the Model 39-A sight hoods gone"?
I have been off on a week long Spring Bear Hunt and unable to research for my needed items anymore.
What type of glue did you use by the way?
I want to be very careful when I try to replace the "Bullseye" in my Rifle.
Maybe that will be a great project for the long winters here in SW Montana?
Thanks again.

They are all hiding out in the end of zip up gun cases.

Amen to that! I don't know how many times I've had a hood get "stripped" as I was pulling the rifle out of the zippered case.

You can tell it’s been a while since looking at this thread. I used some West system marine epoxy that I had on hand

Dad and I took good care of the 39a he bought me back in 1952. It still has the original hood
