A friend has an '07 Dodge Cummins. The turbo went out. The mechanic told him to keep the compression brake engaged all the time. As it works, it apparently blows the crud out of the turbo. I don't know if that applies to the newer ones.

If I’m looking at diesel, it’s for towing and durability ( I know, emissions hurts that...got it) not fuel cost comparisons.......I figure they’re gonna get at least as good as a gas, and I’m gonna fill up on E with both. LOL

After 3000 miles, I am averaging 24 mpg on the Duramax. I commute about 500 miles per week to work. Probably about 75% highway, 25% city.

Peak torque at 1500 rpms. Of inline 6 configuration. A longer compression stroke than the bore diameter All aluminum. It there was ever a light duty, domestic 4wd engine to get excited about, this is the one.

With all the mini van v6s with no low-end torque going into light duty 4wds, this is a breath of fresh air.

Up to 4000 miles now. Really happy with this motor. Perfect for the way I drive. I am not a jack rabbit start kind of driver but once you are moving, this thing has great pick-up in traffic and to merge/pass. Last tank was 25.3 mpg, A bit more highway on it.

Well I can jump in my truck tomorrow and drive to Fairbanks (208 miles) and use about 10 gals. of gas. My truck is also rated to tow around 10,000 lbs. Supercrew cab 4x4 has 67,000 miles on it now 40,000 when I bought it. I can't complain. And this truck is faster than my old 71 formula firebird.

The 1500 Duramax is rated to tow, I believe, 7300 lbs. Which is plenty for me. I have a 16 ft. aluminum fishing boat, a UTV and a utility trailer. None of which will go over the tow limit.

Mine is rated for 9300 pounds.

The 2021's are rated to 12K..

I was told it is not drive train limitations, but cooling system limits. There is extra insulation/sound barrier in the engine compartment for faster warm up and reduced noise.
