Oh they also wanta jump state income tax from 13% ( holy fugg) to like 16.8% ( holy fugg even more) .
Living the dream in California so they can pay city workers to clean up schit on the sidewalks from bums and illegal aliens I'm geussing.

Sales tax in the county I lived in is 8.25%. Property tax is hard to explain, cause there is currently a cap on the base rate of 1% of assessed value. Even a small house in the Bay Area is over a million bucks, and most cities add on supplemental taxes for things like landscaping and mosquito abatement, even though there is no landscaping or mosquito abatement work done, which brings the effective property tax rate to about 1.5% of assessed value, so you're looking at about $15000 a year in property taxes in the Bay Area. When we sold our house in Oakland, we also got hit with a 1.5% county transfer tax. That hurt, but it was worth it to get the heck out of Oakland.
We were very fortunate with money...I made decent money, my wife made a ton, and we were in the highest tax bracket. We got demonized for doing well.
Then add in the gas taxes, the other taxes on everything from utilities to garbage to phones, and the overall high cost of everything there, and you're talking a LOT of money for the privilege of living in what is now a 4th world chithole.
There will be a lot of people who claim that they are happy to pay the high taxes, and I am happy that they are getting what they want. I didn't want it so I moved.

Just read sales tax was 7.25 with local areas able to up it 1%
Imagine the 8.25 rate sales tax is rampant.

I have lived upriver from Happy Camp for 58 of my 74 years, and I can tell you that nobody I know is concerned about a tax hike for just one reason. .17 X 0 = 0. Now them Vienna Sausages are another thing, that is a staple of life here...but they are universally referred to as "Puppy Peckers". If Sacramento imposes a tax in Puppy Peckers...there will be bloodshed.

Got way more experience with Indirect fires than your average 11b Those 13 months as a " 11c" dropping 4.2 motar rounds at ft hood with 2/7 cav to advoid being converted to 11m . Paid huge dividends dealing with indirect fires the rest of my career.
