Like to peruse the local Zidaho classified site, particularly for revolvers, and have noticed some trends.

Lots of Rossi and Taurus snubnose revolvers for sale and they generally get sold pretty quickly. Probably due to lower price as much as anything, but it seems a lot of folks still like small revolvers for carry guns. Or maybe those brands get sold a lot since S&W's are getting harder to find.

Also a fair number of Ruger Blackhawk .44 Magnums for sale fairly cheaply, they are represented more than one would expect in a general mix of firearms, and most are pretty new. I suspect they are sold for the same reason I got my first one so cheaply back in 1972 - someone thinks "Oh boy! A .44 Magnum, this will be great!". Then they actually shoot it and think "Holy McGillicutty, this thing kicks!" I bought mine from a guy who stood about 5' 6", it came with a box of 20 rounds of ammo with 6 fired.

Well, can't talk too much about it, but if you want a good deal on a plasma rifle in the 40 watt range, I know where one is...

I've noticed the .44 Mag issue is also quite common with Freedom Arms Model 83s in .454 Casull. Apparently the idea is a whole lot more fun than the reality and you can become the second owner of an almost unused one at a steep discount to the original purchase price, usually with a fairly high percentage of the original box of ammo.

My max recoil tolerance for regular shooting is at a warm, but not hot, .44 Special or .41 Special load level. I occasionally shoot a .30 Herrett T/C Contender, but generally not more than 10 rounds at a sitting. But I can shoot the Ruger Bisley .44 or the FA97 .41 all day without discomfort.

Different folks have different tolerance levels. Mine is not very high.

I think by now the word has gotten around that the market is hot. Not so sure the S/A revolvers are in the same category. But, everyone is looking to make a buck. People seem to be interested in concealed carry, and personal defense. So if you have a gun or two or three, that have sat around for a few years, now is a good time to sell them. Who would think. Lot's of guns have been sold this year. Virtually every month this year has set a record for gun sales.

My thought would be maybe the little revolvers are getting ditched for
something with more capacity. Considering what's going on lately,
One doesn't have to stretch very far to see a potential need for more
than a 5 shot 38.

They are being snatched up by those who don't have a concealable gun.

Noticed the SP101 is pulling a high price on Zidaho, as well.

...when the 500 S&W came out I shot a friend's brother's 8 3/8" gun with the brake and said if they ever come out with a 4" I'd buy one... The following year S&W did and shortly thereafter a nice clean used one showed up at a local shop for a very good price...fired ONE round... I still have it.

Would have to disagree that snubbies are getting "dumped", and if they are they are being bought as fast as they go on the market. I "had" five snubbies until a couple of weeks ago when I decided to keep just one and dump the rest as I would never be carrying any of them... They all sold in a week for 35-95% more than I paid for them and all were bought within the last two years...

Try and find a .327 anything right now. A few months ago there would be no less than 100 on GunBroker...Single-Severs, SP-101s, SP-101 Targets, LCRs, LCRXs, some high priced S&Ws...now try and find a DA...maybe a Target and an occasional LCR and that is it. I bought an LCR about three years ago for $350.00...sold the other day for $675. Saw a NIB sell a couple of days before for $800...

Right now anything handgun is selling well....the defensive guns especially.

Funny I came across this post, just yesterday I picked up a lightly used SBH .44mag at a steal.

Nice find!

SBHs are great! I've come to prefer my Bisley version over my plow handle SBH.


No Brigadier until next year...settled for a Compact of the same kind. Easier carry, even with the 15 rd mag and adapter.
