I had a neighbor who had a 1980 Z28 in his garage, with 74 miles on it. It still had the rubber beads on the tires. No one had ever sat in the back seat. He moved away a few years back. Not sure what he did with that car.

I remember cars from that era. 29k miles was halfway to worn slap out. When a car got 40 or 50k on it, you’d better be thinking about trading it in. Still, that is a beautiful car.

The 370 HP solid lifter LT1 in the Z scooted. My cousin bought one new when he graduated from college. Many years later my brother bought a used 71 Blazer that someone had swapped the same LT1 in. Not a great combo for off roading but it was fun on the street.

I’m in my mid 40’s I remember as a kid people thought that if you got 100,000 miles out of a car you had got all that you could reasonably expect out of it and it was borrowed time.

I'll keep my 2020 ZL1 Camaro. 650hp/650 torque right off the showroom and 25 mpg on the highway.

One of my dad’s buddies had a new one in HS. Turd brown with a slap stick auto. They all talk about how that thing would fly. I think it flew a little slower after he shelled it out one night and stuffed some greasy old 2bbl 350 out of a wrecked Monkey Carlo in it. smile

OK, now the reason I posted the video, and "The Rest of the Story........

This was my car, and I am the original owner. I ordered the car new when I was a senior in high school.

Of course, if I would have had a crystal ball back then, I would have ordered the RS package and air conditioning, but back then I was worried some butt head would back into me, so I ordered the full bumper w/ bumperettes. And who needs air when you have window cranks? Do you realize how many 6 packs that air would cost?

I kept that car 45 years, and just sold it to the guy in the video 2 years ago. I don't believe he has put 10 miles on it. He did paint the wheels and put repro Firestone Wide Ovals on it.

I was sad to see it go, but like I always say, nothing's forever, and everything's for sale.

Drive's side front fender, blended to top of the wheel well, and lower half of rear quarter, chips and start of surface rust.

Top & bottom front valance were painted due to chips.

The right side untouched, as is rear deck and hood.
