I have an SHV 5-20, and it is BIG. I definitely wouldn’t put it on a rifle that I planned on carrying around.

Not the exact models but I have the SHV 5-20x56 and a Zeiss v4 in 4-16x44. I think, and people’s eyes vary, that the v4 is brighter even being the smaller objective. I know it’s also lower top end but I’ve had no trouble with either. The zeiss is more forgiving and I haven’t done a ton of dialing compared to many here. The SHV would be fine for sitting and shooting from one spot. It’s big ands significantly to the weight of the rifle. I really find my self drawn to the zeiss and will have more in my future. Both do what they need to.

Here is a SHV 5-25x56 on an 18” barreled Remington 700 and a V4 44mm objective for size comparison. Sorry if these are not right way as I’m still learning this picture deal.

I recently mounted a V4 4-16x44. No field use yet but my range experience was very positive. Tracking was spot on, solid windage and elevation detents, good eye relief, good clarity.....pleased thus far....

I have the V4 and the NSX not the SHV, I like them both. As others have said, the NF is heavy but very nice and you don't have to worry about "will it move when I dial". I have only used the V4 at the range but it to has moved when I dialed, but I will admit, I have not dialed it like I have the N, but then again, I have only had the V4 a few months. I would buy another V4 with no problem for a hunting rifle. It is clear and easy to get behind for sure.
I have wanted to try a SHV but have never looked thru one, but I too am not a fan of the 56 mm. For my hunting I could go with the F1 and be happy, but as a dual purpose range/hunting scope, the 5-20 SHV has a little more appeal except for the 56 mm thing.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

The Zeiss is no lightweight scope. 22.6 ounces. The 4-16x44 model does not have turret covers.

I bought a V4 4-16x44mm back in May 2018 and I'm very happy with it optically and with it's repeatability so far.
I started it out on a T3X SS and zeroed it at 200 yards and then dialed out to 300 yards shot a 5 shot group, then down to 100 and shot the "box" with 20 rounds, then down to 50yards firing a 4 shot group and back out to 300 yards where it put 5 shots back into the earlier 2.68 inch group. The ammunition was the Hornady # 81499 6.5 Creedmoor 143 gr. ELD-X Precision Hunter.

The scope is now on my T3X CTR SS (24 inch bbl.) in Seekins 30 mm rings on a Seekins 20 MOA rail, and while our range has only 300 yards available it has been a joy to use and no issues with repeatability the past 18 months or so.
I have been able to push the CTR to longer distances on private property twice where the owner has steel plates at 602 yards and 816 yards and a steel silhouette at 1010 yards (per the range finder). The #20 (Plex) reticle is not ideal for this type of shooting, I could dial the range, had to work in the math due to the elevation of 3145 ft. Reading and doping the wind is always the challenge for me, had a good spotter and we were able eventually ring some steel at 1010 yards. As the day warmed up we had some mirage issues and we chased the wind as the longer range targets were on the next mountain over and it was variable.
Before we packed it up and called it a day I punched the bore, let it completely cool and the put the 300 yard dope on the gun and shot 5 rounds of Hornady #81501 147gr. ELD Match into 2.76 inches.

A couple of takeaways, the Zeiss V4 has certainly met my expectations, if I was going play at longer ranges I'd use a different reticle. The Tikka T3X CTR is impressive and paired with the Hornady ammunition it is tough to beat for right out of the box accuracy.

I have used many NF and S&B products over the years and still have a couple in the safe; I cannot find any fault with V4.

Obviously YMMV.

Are those the only scopes you are considering? I'd have a look at a LRHS if you want something rugged that tracks well.

No - I'm open to suggestions! I had an LRHS and a SS. I hated the spider web reticle. To my 57 year old, Lasik corrected eyeballs, they disappeared at the edges of daylight. They are both solid scopes but I'm not keen on the reticle selection.

I’ll probably get scorched for this...
First off I am not a Vortex fan but the LH HD and new LHT are really good and the few reviews by actual users are positive. I have several of each as the optics and eye box/relief are addictive for the price and weight.

If the new LW 3-15 Razor LHTs are as good as their big brothers, the 3-18 and 4-27, they’ll be all good. I’m not a fan of anything else Vortex makes myself other than the Razor Gen 2s and the new Gen 3 1-10, so we’ll see. I’ve got one on order and am expecting it in a couple weeks.

I'll second that. I've had 4 Razor Gen IIs. Excellent scopes. I especially like the Gen II 1-6x24 on my ARs.

I bought a Conquest V4 6-24x50 to put on a Bergara Creedmoor and do some PRS shooting. With factory loads of various types and Zeiss software was able to hit fairly small targets out past 1100 yards. Everything inside 600 was slam dunk easy.

I loaned it brand new to my son in law for our elk hunt in NW Colorado. He rode it in a UTV then hiked through rough country for several miles on a new 300 Weatherby. One shot kill iof a nice cow At just under 200 yards. He is a big Nightforce guy but really hated to return my scope. This year I told him buy his own.

Glass is excellent can’t see much difference from a V6 in comparison side by side, adjustments work well & Redhawk Rifkes had them for a bargain price.

Going to order one at the end of the week as well. I like everything about it .
