in my truck were older than I remembered. How old, you ask? Well, older than my divorce (bought december '09). Gave the wallet a hit that was a little more pleasant than the divorce was, tho. But both, were just as worth it.......grin

I remember buying batteries maybe 5-6 years ago, but they musta been for the ranch truck. Here's the post from the other thread. Ol' Whitey is ready to go hunting now. Heck, I'm even thinking of getting him some new aftermarket wheels, too. The original aluminum duallies are pretty beat.....

Looks like a good return on investment, on both the batteries and the divorce!

Batteries and tires always sting at the cash register. But they are both worth it when you need them.


Never seen anyone get a divorce that didn't need it, but can't say the same for marriage.

I had a battery crap out on the day I was leaving for a hunting trip. Shorted internally, and took out the charging system.

I plan to replace batteries in my ‘11 diesel f250. They are original from when I bought it in April 2011.

How did your batteries last 9 years iron? I was lucky to get 5 with my gasser while live in anchorage. When we moved to Wasilla I kept a spare battery on a tender for the just in case factor.

Last year I replaced the batteries in my '08 Dodge diesel. I bought it in '12 and they looked pretty new then. I doubt the dealer put in top of line stuff. They were getting weak in cold weather when I replaced them after 7 years.

Dunno. Must be the clean living!

Ive had good luck with auto batteries. Replaced the one in the van earlier this year.

8 years there and it had been fully discharged a few times.

New cars are full of electronics. When the key is on, you'd be amazed at how much juice is being pulled from the battery. I was working on our new car's trailer lights and had a the key on when I discovered I needed a part. I was gone for about an hour and forgot to turn the key off. The battery was dead after an hour with only the car's electronics running, no lights, radio, etc.

edited to add: the daytime running lights were probably on. I forgot about those.

Some cars, you don't even have to leave the key on, they drain so much with the key off you need to drive them every day and/or get a the extra premium heavy duty Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery. Our 2015 Outback is a battery eater. If you are getting mysterious no crank no starts you might check your key off current drain.

The batteries that came stock in my 1998 dodge diesel lasted over 300,000 miles.

Hold on to that truck.
