1.5 million acres of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is now poised for auction then oil and gas drilling. On Monday the Department of the Interior completed its initial review, which sets up the vast coastal plain and birthing grounds for the world's largest caribou herd, the Porcupine herd, for oil and gas drilling. This 19 million-acre wild landscape is flanked by giant peaks and braided rivers that not only sustain the caribou, it is an important polar bear denning site, supports the greatest variety of plant and animal life of any protected area within the Arctic Circle, from arctic fox and musk ox to countless song and shorebirds, which rely on this pristine ecosystem to not just survive, but thrive.

At SITKA, we value ecosystems and believe it's our duty to speak up when we see steps being taken that threaten priceless wild places such as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the largest remaining stretch of wilderness in the United States.

We believe that drilling should not be permitted in an area that sustains 187,000 caribou and so much more. The risk posed by drilling for oil and gas is not one to be taken lightly.

Please join us in raising our voices, and speaking up for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This is an ecosystem that must be protected. There's no bringing it back once it's gone.

I dont agree with them but it's their company. They want to take that stance, its their right. I just won't support them

I don’t read anything like that in Pnuma’s website. Their clothing would be a viable alternative to Sitka

It amazes me how many CEOs have to take a political stance that affects their bottom line. Shut up and sell gear!

No body wants to live by a dump or prison. We need the fuel and Alaska needs the jobs. How much did the trans Akaska pipe line hurt the environment?

TRUE! Lots of bou walking around under the pipeline, they are not affected by it.

Absolutely! that is what I think too. It is better to find an alternative that will serve it purpose well.

How that company has stayed in business is beyond me. The prices they put on the junk they sell amazes me. Ive never bought one thing from them but was given a brand new set of their high end rain gear as a tip last fall. Pure junk. The zipper on the coat comes apart and gets stuck constantly. My son gave me the Kiui Yukon rain gear and the difference is night and day. I wouldn't pay their prices either but the quality is much better.

I have and have used their Dewpoint rain gear a lot, including in the ANWR. Works great for me, and I’m not easy on it.

Yeah but they continue to flood the market with overpriced Chinese clothing.

Have looked at Sitka clothing . Though the price was insane. Have not bought any of it, and won’t.
