The NBA as a whole is a bad predicament. Viewership and interest in this attempt at ending the season has been luke warm. They've tried to play done the poor viewership saying that early playoff rounds never have big ratings, but it will pick up when they get to the semi finals and finals like always. (Shows that they have at least one round of playoffs too many in a regular season.)
Next is having the players in the Orlando "bubble" is problematic. Players hate it, they are sneaking their "ho in and h out as witnessed by the NBA declaring that "guests" must be "known" as friends/whatever to others before the bubble.
No energy in specatatorless games. Without fans, they have to feel like "for whom am I playing?"
All this adds up to the players just don't want to be there, and this is a great excuse to not to go to work. It will cost them in the long run, just like the MLB strike in '94. I haven't been a regular NBA watcher in years. Don't like the game right now. Zone defense has taken away the low post game. No hand checking means no defense. Top 4 teams have the 8 best players in the league, and the other teams are pretenders. Not for me.
