I agree that he was a criminal, but I liked the way he dealt with issues like this. 1968 was my last year in the city of my birth and it was interesting times. With all the race riots and anit-Vietnam stuff going on I was glad to enlist in the USAF and go to a potentially safer place.
A couple of years later Chicago was having some real problems with the Black Panthers. Turned on the news one night to see that a number of the Panther leaders were taken out by the Chicago PD. There were many eye witness reports that no one knocked or identified themselves as policemen. They just kicked in the door and lit them up. I'll never forget Daley, with a bit of a grin, saying, "My boys wouldn't do that." End of discussion.

Point here is taht 50+ years ago, police could crack heads and restore order. Other part of the equation is that the Left WANTS Trump to crack heads and restore order to use video of some cop beating a black man/women or some pale ass white girl and use it against the re-election.

Daly was not that far removed from the gangland control of Chicago back in the whiskey-running days, and most of his administration probably still had deep mob connections. The politicians, the cops, and the crooks were all joined at the hip. The glue that held the whole arrangement together was their political affiliation- - - - -dummycrap then, and dummycrap now.

That was eight years before I was born but it was cool to see that we as a society we’re okay with even a Democrat not putting up with the can’t hurt nobody’s feelings much less them mentality we have today.
