Sans club and Costco and probably others have 2 it 3 packs of pretty decent lights. They have all the best features and decent battery life.
In my experience they are all heavier than I like. We've got some placed around the house for emergency use.

And I have not used any of the super lights such as Zebra or Fenix. I have been completed happy with the $25-35 lights from Petzl.

The Petzl Tikka has very good battery life. And can be had in rechargeable form.
I use 3 AAAs each month in my primary light. I wear it most of the time I'm awake at home.
I will leave it turned on low, for a night light probably 4-5 nights a month when I have stuff going on overnight and may need to get up and go quickly.

It has a good red light capability which can be used without fumbling or ruining night vision by going through the white light options first. That's big with me.

And it's got 350L of white light on tap, which projects out enough that I can keep an eye on the dogs anywhere in my acre yard.

At the end of the month the batteries are still quite useable, but diminished enough that I can tell the difference with a new set.

This type that uses the 18650 rechargeable Lithium batteries. If you have to track an animal at night,a good light is what you need,it will look like daylight. It will run around 4hrs on a set of batteries.Carry an extra set and your good for the whole night.

My Zebra' is a few years old. It's a H600w II, it puts out around 1100 lumen on high.

Now it looks like they are up to Gen IV, putting out 1600 lumen.

Just got a 3 pack of rechargeable LED from COSTCO.

One headlamp and two clip on lights with swivel heads.

Impressed so far and it was $10 off for the set at the time.

Multiple settings of intensity and color.

When I saw the title of the thread, I figured, go to a coon hunting site and see what coon hunters are using these days. Guys who spend all night in the woods with their dogs know what the best lights are. When I used to do it, we one’d wet cell, 4 volt Wheat lights... expensive, but they lasted all night (like I used to.) I figured technology must have caught up with tycoon hunting crowd, so I looked. There’s a brand called “Boss” that looks popular. They run about $250 to $350, less than we paid for Wheat lights , adjusted for inflation.

I use an older Zebralight H60011 at work nearly every day and have not seen one better. I also use EagleTac 18650 because they're top notch batteries and fit in my torch perfectly. Other brand 18650 batteries can be a very tight fit in my torch.
