Not the slightest interest in OptiLocks.

Thanks,

I've used Leupold Sako rings with complete satisfaction on a few Sako rifles, including a L61R chambered in .358 Norma, with perfect satisfaction. They've served in harsh conditions, are never babied, and have been rock steady.

Get a set of the original ringmounts made by Sako for your rifle. These are not the newer Optilocks. You'll have to watch Ebay, Gunbroker etc. for a used pair.

I’ve used Leupold ringmounts on a number of Sako rifles. They work great.

Thanks Labman.

That’s what I have always used with the exception of one set of Burris on a 30-06. They worked, but the separate flat shim under the rings always had me wondering when everything was going to come undone.

I’m pretty sure the S&K would work well on a SAKO as well. Never heard a bad report on them.

I have Conetrol on my 85.Love them.Burris Signature on my L579 work well.I needed 26mm for the Forester's Nickle Marburg scope.I tried Sako 26mm rings but they were still too small.I agree I'm not fond of the Optilocks....but they are good and heavy.

Sorry,I drank the Sako-Aid.My opinion may be biased.

Yep. Simple, fairly light, hold up, look good.

Have used optilocks, sako ringmounts, leupold ringmounts, conetrol, and s&k on that receiver.

Would go first for the s&k’s - maybe the prettiest IMO, and usually lightest by 1.5oz compared to ringmounts, though the ringmounts have one less joint so have to credit them that. Second i like the sako ringmounts because of poly insert and mostly blended edges, generally, though would go leupold ringmount in this case (no insert, Sharper corners, but tad narrower profile may look better on that receiver).

Sold my finnbear (had leupold ringmounts on). Using s&k on a vixen and conetrol on a 6.5SE finnlight. Had optilocks on a 75 hunter running 7x56 scope, but that’s a lot of hardware, didn’t care for. Also, ingwe made fun of me and hurt my feeling.

Golldammed motion detector lights. A guy can’t even piss off his porch in peace any more.

So are the original Sako mounts......................besides that, they are ugly, especially compared to the sleekness of the Conetrols.

I’m planning on mounting a SWFA 6X on my L579 .243 and have been pondering the same question as OP.
Leupold makes their ring mounts in 30mm and so far that looks like my best and least expensive option.
I’m running 1” ring mounts now on that rifle and a Forester .358 Win and never a problem......

I have leupold sako rings on my rifles. They use the integral dovetail and work as designed. Their could be a better system but these are easy to find and readily available.

I like the Leupold Sako ringmounts a lot and never had an issue with them. One thing to be aware of with those mounts is that the screw which attaches to the dovetail goes on the left side of the action, opposite of the Optilocks. Just need to look at the way the tapered dovetail works and no problem. Have seen them mounted the wrong way around.
