Hey All,

I've been reading that a bunch of you have installed a peep on the barrel grooves of your 24 rimfires. I recently tried a Williams WGRS-54 peep sight that was supposed to fit any gun with 22 rimfire grooves but it was way to loose. Looking for recommendations on the front sight too. I'm thinking that I'll probably need a taller front sight if installing a rear peep that is higher than the original rear blade sight.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your sharing your experience.

The Redfield peep sight that was made for the Savage 24 rimfires has a riser block for the front sight.

Which Williams sight do you have? WGRS?

I tried the WGRS-54. Too loose.

I had a Williams peep drilled and tapped to the receiver. I had to change the front sight as well. The grooves on the receiver were seemingly odd sized.

I have a M24H-DL .22WM/3” 20 gauge and mounted a Williams .22/410 receiver sight (that is the only number marked on the sight) on it that fit perfectly and specifically made and contoured to the top of the receiver for the Savage 24’s without needing to modify the front sight. My 24 has the grooves too, but after trying a scope on Weaver clamp rings which made the shotgun barrel all but useless, I’m back to using that receiver sight which nearly doubled the sighting radius from the original barrel mounted open sight.

My other auto is a .45

I also have one of the 22/.410 sights mounted to a 22WMR /20ga. It was shortened but still works well with the original front sight.
