Anyone have/shoot one?
I could never figure out why Ruger chambered it in such an oddball cartridge. There were only four guns commercially chambered for it, AFAIK.
They almost guaranteed the failure of it by not using more popular chamberings. I'd like to see it come back in, say .22LR, .17HMR, .357 Mag and .44 Mag.

.256 win, single shot "revolver".

That's pops' last grail gun.
He finally got an artillery Luger.

Has Contender pistol and rifle bbls in .256 win, but has never owned a Hawkeye.

The guns you list can work in a reg revolver, no need to go with the Hawkeye approach.

I dunno what the limits of Ruger revolver frame are...........suspect the cartridge AND the gun/design were rather limited.

FWIW Bowen does Smith revolver conversions to .256 win.
Expensive but yeah, so cool I just want one (maybe one of these days).

Think Remingtons XP running hotter cartridges is what killed the Hawkeye.

On the Hawkeye you load a round into the bbl, not the cylinder.

Fair point. I love single shots, especially odd designs.
