I ordered a Sako Hunter for mine last week. The fella at McMillan said 4-6 months.

Taylor, that rifle looks great man. Looking forward to setting it up.

I'm looking forward to setting it up as well, though I'm not really doing anything more to it until after hunting seasons are over. I might scope it with what I have on hand and shoot it but I'm not expecting great results. The barreled action fits a little too tight in the stock for my tastes, so I know that'll have an effect on my groups. I'll take it to my GS probably in January after the late season cow hunt my daughter has, and have him cut the barrel down to 18" and thread it for an adaptor so I can use my suppressor and still keep the overall length of the rifle where I like.

That sounds like it'll be a wicked combo. I am looking forward to setting the little bugger up. I'd love to grab one of the 4.5x18 Bushies and mount it up.

That's on my short list of optics as well, that and the SS 3-9 you already mentioned.

as you might guess I am clueless , is "Hogue OverMolded Rifle Stock Howa 1500" is a good choice for this gun ?

A lot of Howas come stock with them. They are on the heavy side, but seem to work pretty well.

I liken them to rifle shaped "marital aids".

do i need a gunsmith or i can do it myself?

They are drop in stocks. You shouldn't have to do any smithing. In a worse case scenario you might have to do a little sanding or dremel tool work, but that's not likely.

A weatherby vanguard stock is also a drop in replacement and preferred by many over the Hogue Howa stock.

I also put my 6 CM in a Banser last year with a SWFA 3-9 and it was a fine lil hunting rig.

Those are the stocks that I replace as soon as a rifle equipped with them comes into my possession. I can't think of a worse stock currently being installed of commercial sporting rifle. In fact, I dislike them so much that if hunting for a rifle so equipped was my only choice, I'd forego hunting unless I needed the meat.

Is your cell number the same? I can shoot you some pics of the Sako Classic I put on my Howa 7 WSM....

I don't care for them either, but the several I've shot, all shot well. I definitely like the vanguard stock a lot better as far as factory stocks go. For now, my bbl'd action is going into an unidentified fiberglass stock I had lying about for some unknown reason. Definitely feels better to me than a Hogue.

Been playing Where's Waldo with the Griptonite I ordered from Weatherby. Shipped 9/5, went to DC, then NC, then Harrisburg, PA; now is "in transit to the next location". Check your map; NC is farther from Jefferson County, WV than either DC or Harrisburg. Methinks the P.O. is run by squirrels.

Mail-in voting? Oh yeah!

Now the tracking shows it never left NC. Been stationary for a week now. Must be buried in a container of Republican mail-in ballots.

Picked up my barreled action today, stuck it in that stock I had lying around and am quite pleased. Weight = 7.25 lbs.

Gotta get dies and cases and we'll see how well that combo works.

I received my used griptonite stock from Numrich's and the barrelled action from Brownell's earlier this week. The action is great, weight around 4.75 lbs.

The used griptonite stock wasn't so good. Had a logo on the side of the butt reading "Delta Waterfowl". Lots of wear, which is expected, but a big ass logo on the butt was a turn off. I sent it back to Numrich's today. No logo was mentioned on the web page. Weight was around 2.5 lbs btw. Going to look at other options including Boyd's.

I like my Redding dies a lot. The seater is easy-peasy to set. Been partial FL sizing for the Barrett. Going to use the Starline brass I have for this one at first. It holds somewhat less powder than Hornady, but seems otherwise fine. Weight's not an issue for this one, whatever it ends up being.

Got three Howas now. Really like their simplicity and quality of construction. I see they've started bringing in some SS ones again.
