Title says it.

I used to make peach cobbler in a Dutch oven over the fire for my son - he asked me to make some apple crisp or cobbler this weekend for us.
He bought some oak barrel vanilla ice cream just for this weekend... so I need to step up.

Anyone have a good recipe they can recommend.

I was in an elk camp where the following was done.

The cobbler was a box of yellow cake mix, a can of peaches and a can of 7up. Put it in coals and put some on top, I think it sat for about 45 minutes.

Good eats after walking miles. Google machine may refine that recipe, but that's what I remember.

Can’t you just sub Apple for your recipe?

This is a good recipe although not specifically for a D.O. All you have to do is put it in a warm ten inch D.O., have the lid really warm, watch your charcoal, and it'll work just fine.

If you're going to be in camp, it is hard to take vanilla ice cream but keep some real thick cream in your ice chest and it'll be an excellent substitute.

Enjoy.

My recipe is like Timber Runner's

2 cans of cling peaches with juice poured into DO(the juice is enough that you don't need to use the 7up)
top with yellow cake mix, do not mix
cut one stick of butter in little pats and arrange over top of cake mix
sprinkle cinnamon over butter and cake mix
bake using standard charcoal DO heating for 350 degrees
top with ice cream

My wife made a good one the other day. Apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, some package mix.
It's good.

Yep super easy to make. Line your DO with foil and spray nonstick on it because it is not fun to clean up. Apple pie filling yellow cake mix on top and 1 stick of butter cut into enough pats to cove most of the surface

It's Dump Cake.
A soft fresh fruit or canned pie filling
The cake mix
Citrus soda.
Cook it until it smells good, it's done.

I saw it on a cooking show done by an old Montana Game warden/hunting guide.
