I shot it Using Winchester Super X 00 Buckshot
At 3 yards got a 3 inch pattern
At 5 Yards got a 4 inch pattern
at 7 yards got a 5.5 inch pattern
At 10 yards which is the longest possible shot in our house I got a 7.5 inch pattern.

The Shockwave I Got came with the crimson trace red Laser saddle on it
I shot with the Shockwave at eye level with it as far away from my face as possible
Then I shot with it about halfway down to the hip then I shot from the hip

The Laser made it possible right from the get go to hit point of aim regardless of the shooting position

I did not shoot any rounds without the laser but next time I will shoot without the Laser from the same positions.

I Imagine that the shots I will take then using the eye level position that their will not be a lot of change
from there I imagine the shot placement to get worse until I have a lot of practice shooting from those positions.|

I was going to get the Shockwave without the Crimson Trace laser but went ahead and got it and I am glad now that I did.

I got a Picatinny rail on its way to mount on the receiver and try a flashlight in that position and see if I like it.

So far I am really liking it .

I have a friend that has the Rem.870 version and it does a good job at sweeping a hallway.

We also shot some of the short shells including the slug.

They made it more fun.

From my understanding Aguilla And Federal are at least 2 makers of the 1 3/4 shells.

I'm pretty sure I saw one with a folding pistol brace.... legal because it's sold as a "firearm"? If they sold it with a barrel threaded for screw in chokes I might need one... a turkey gun that would sling over your back well....

Then it's the right weapon for your purposes, and confidence.

Too many people think they can spray and pray cause it's a shotty.

I'm interested in the semi version of the genre.

Performance numbers of the short shells, and whether they cycle a semi, would be appreciated.

I put a pistol brace on mine. With the opsol adaptor it holds 9 mini shells and is very easy to shoot. I shot a 23/4 no.4 buck at the burn barrel that is 50 yards out the back door. Covered the barrel up with the shot. I keep it loaded with minis in the corner and it travels in the truck quite often as well. Gives ya the warm fuzzy feeling ya know!!

Hope I don't but ever need it but expect it would do some damage.

I'd like ta know if the shot would penetrate drywall wall (two layers, spaced), but what's left in the tank afterwards?

Bein able ta shoot through a wall ta stop an attacker is an important feature for a home defense weapon.

The Barrel on The Shockwave is the Heavier barrel of the 590 as opposed to the thinner wall barrel of the 500
Probably get a gunsmith to thread the barrel for screw in chokes for a reasonable price

Then again you might not need different chokes
Check out the findings here ,this is with buckshot but gives you a start.

No Not a lot of spray and pray at Home defense situations ,Just 8 or 9 .54 caliber (about 55 grain )Grain Pellets hitting at once !

Mossberg does not make a semi auto version to my knowledge but Remington does or did but that will cost 3 times the Mossberg shockwave.
I think there is a company called Black aces that makes a semi auto version but from what i have read they are not very reliable.

From my understanding the semi autos will not reliably work with the Mini shells and Opsol does not make an adapter for them.

For a good evaluation of Mini shell try
