I know the smooth side can be sharpened, what about the rough side?

I used the Worksharp "fish hook" little ceramic piece on the serrated teeth, sliding one way - away from the blade. Then I did the smooth back of the blade - worked well on daughters quality kitchen knife. (Was gonna try a round chainsaw file but haven't yet.)

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I also use a spyderco sharpmaker for serrations.

If it is not a dedicated bread, rope, or dive knife - they are of little use.

Grocer gave us some Victronox produce knives th th had worn out, the groves were gone. Tried using them for asparagus, but they were too smooth to cut.
Tried the chainsaw file, too hard. Dremmel with a round stone. Too hard, took forever.
Put a 1/8" cutting wheel in my surface grinder, cut some shallow groves on a bias. Nasty grabby cutting. Hate to call it sharp, but it worked. A couple years in the dirt though, and it is losing its edge.

If it is not a dedicated bread, rope, white water raft or dive knife - they are of little use. Agree with this, though added the bold... Biggest use in my parts is a blunted end Vic or a Boye Boat Knife attached to your PFD to cut straps, tiedowns, etc.

spyderco sharp maker or one of those nseting fish hook sharpeners.
My half serrated spyderco delica is a nice compromise and twine cutter.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

I use a rod similar to this. It does well on bread knife and serrated leather man wave blade. LINK
