Saw a quick news story on this last night on a non main stream channel. Uganda has 45 million people. As a country, they take hydroxychloroquine to prevent malaria. They have implemented no social distancing policies or mask mandates. They have had 45 COVID deaths. That would be like the US having 300 deaths.

I'm guessing there aren't very many that live into their 70s and 80s in Uganda, that might be part of too.

You're referring to the death rate and that's fair enough. They did mention a massive difference in the infection rate as well. I just don't remember the exact number off the top of my head, but it was something like 1,000 fold lower.

And frankly, I'd seriously question THAT figure.....

Same thing in Ghana, cases and deaths are significantly lower than US, and consensus seems to be it's the fact that everyone takes the malaria medication, which is available over the counter.

Well...how did they figure out the hydrosomething worked in the first place?

Has anyone actually secured some of that hydroxychloroquine stuff? Can you get it here in the States easily? Depending on the shelf life, it may be worth having in the event of another outbreak of something worse down the road. I'm not advocating people take random drugs. But if a virus broke out that was much worse than what we're seeing now, I would take it.

I know someone who is over the age of 80 who had bypass surgery one month before getting Covid. He was significantly short of breath and pretty sick. Got HCQ and started getting better literally the next day.

Average life expectancy is 63 according to google. Sounds about right for Sub Saharan Africa, it was 55 yo when I was there.

Life expectancy is the average age at death, throw in a bunch of infant mortality ((ie. 0.2 years, 0.5 years, 0.3 years etc...) along with your 70's, 80's and 90's and it ain't hard to knock ten or fifteen years off of the average.

Make it past age 10 or so and you're pretty much good to go, old people were not in short supply when I was there.

Michigan’s queen has some very different thoughts on this...prioritize placing COVID patients in nursing homes with space to convalesce, then when the elderly have it, allow them no treatment options and to progress to the point of going on a ventilator for a month before dying. And pull the license of any doctor that dares cross the queen! ‘Hate’ doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel for that serpent.

Another factor might be tropical zones get more sunshine year round, less vitamin D deficiencies, and people spend more time outdoors instead of inside.

Need to question the USA numbers which are lies.

Despite dire predictions, the entirety of sub-Saharan Africa has pretty much been spared.

US doctors are taking it routinely now.

That's fair. Here is what I found on the age structure in Uganda.

0-14 years: 48.21% (male 10,548,913/female 10,304,876)

15-24 years: 20.25% (male 4,236,231/female 4,521,698)

25-54 years: 26.24% (male 5,202,570/female 6,147,304)

55-64 years: 2.91% (male 579,110/female 681,052)

65 years and over: 2.38% (male 442,159/female 589,053) (2020 est.)

HCQ is the standard course of treatment all over the US. It’s one reason deaths are way down. You just can’t talk about it and not every doctor will give it to you. But it works. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Not! That area of Africa is the dirty ripe butthole of the world... no one goes there on purpose!

Too add, the government is as dirty as can be and arrests internet bloggers and media.... you cannot trust anything that comes out of there news wise, its the NK of Africa.

Japan's death rate is 12 per million while the USA now is 621, Japan did not shut down.
