Paid $1.64 here in N TX yesterday. But a lot of places around here are showing $1.99.

Maybe you have not heard, but the weather along the Gulf coast has been a bit wet and windy lately. Many or most of the big refineries are shut down.
We have four refineries here in Utah, and all that Wyoming oil. Running at full speed, but due to demand and summer/winter changeover, our gas was $2.49 Monday - the last time I was out. I plan to fill up this morning. We'll see...

It's supply and demand. You should have stocked up when the prices were lower. Next, you'll be griping about "price gouging"....what are you, a socialist?
Sorry, just being sarcastic... but that's exactly what you'll get if you dare to complain about the price of ammo... Great post! (You forgot about the hurricanes in the Gulf, however.)

Man, oh man, it beats those four bucks a gallon days all hollow! But do you remember what your corn was selling for back then? I do. Good times for the corn growers. Buck eighty nine local today.

The states are recouping expenses by increasing gas taxes. Colorado is one. When prices hit a certain low number, extra tax hits automatically. Same for most states. You did not get to vote on this and it will always be there.
I am in the oil business. We sell oil today for $35 per barrel. Replacement cost is $40. The price will rise again, but you will not see the benefit of the low prices.

That seems to be true, muleshoe. My fillup this morning actually went down a nickel to $2.44 and with my grocery store discount, I got it for $2.34/gal. The only places where it seems to be higher in the West are in Lost Wages, NV and Scottsdale, AZ.

I did see a Maverick in Boise yesterday that said $2.33 for 87 octane, 10% Etoh.

Fgold767: I don't know? On a recent gun buying trip all over western Montana I saw major brand diesel fuel selling for 10 cents to 20 cents a gallon LESS than regular unleaded at the same stations? Seems like just a year or two ago diesel was 30 cents to 45 cents MORE per gallon than regular unleaded. I just shake my head and open my wallet so's I can keep on truckin (enjoying my retirement). I haven't been to town in a couple days (been Antelope scouting) so I will be in for a "surprise" when I get through town this afternoon I guess. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
