Hey all, I would like some help. Long story short, my neighbor passed away several months ago. HIs wife/widow has asked me to sell some of his things to help provide her funds. I've been selling most of his stuff and one of the items is the below pictured generator. I've been trying to research it. I keep finding the new inverter generators and actually own a couple of those. I do know that this, used, non-inverter 3000 watt generator is worth nowhere near the roughly $2000 those sell for. However, I don't want to short her out of my own ignorance. There is no model number and it appear to be, roughly, ten years old. It runs and works great. There is no hour meter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There may be a date of manufacture on the sticker on the engine, lower left in that picture. Looks like a great unit for a construction site. Easily $400-500.

You need to make sure it works first. If it does, I think Slumlord pegged it right. It's very similar to the Yamaha 2800 I bought 15 years ago for $900. When folks can go to Tractor Supply and buy a more capable Champion with a warranty for $400 bucks, it's tough to sell an older unknown Honda for much more than that.

There is no date of manufacture, model number or anything of much help at all on that sticker/plate. Thank you all for the input. My first inclination that it was probably worth around $250 to $350. I guess I was in the ball park and you all have given some hope that I may be able to get more for her. It does work and it works well. It fires right up immediately. You are correct PB. I have a 3K Champion, electric start, inverter that I bought on sale for $600. I'm hoping a hunter/rancher/construction guy has a need for this heavy-duty unit. Heck, if I am not able to sell it locally, I guess I would feel comfortable paying her $400 for it to help her out even though I have no need for another. Thanks again for the input all.

It's more than 10 years old. I'd say 20.

This ^^^^ Typically they need some work if they’ve been used hard or left unattended for long periods of time. New Firman dual and triple fuel gens can be had for $1k or less. Just bought a new dual fuel for $895 after blowing out a kidney firing up an old Yamaha genny a couple weeks ago. 😎

It's a gamble. Fuel system work for sure. If a rotor or stator needs replaced , could be well over 500.00 repair. The older ones like that had brushes that are easy to replace though.

Wish I could offer a serious answer.
But, to be true to the 'freakshow you should offer $50 to the widow and hold on to it till the next hurricane or ice storm and sell it for a first-born child.
