I recently acquired a Sterling Davenport rifle. I got it for what I think was a good value. I am not really concerned about the price that I paid for it but am more interested in the parts that were used to make the rifle. I have tried numerous times to contact the Davenport company in AZ. I think it is now his son that I am trying to contact. I have used the phone number and as of yet been unsuccessful in reaching them. What I am interested in is if anyone knows did he use a particular barrel, trigger, type of wood on his firearms? I have removed the barrel from the gun and it is not stamped. Any help would be appreciated! The three files that are attached are photos of the rifle.

I have a rifle built by Sterling, probably one of the last dozen or so that he built. Mine was built on a Steyr Mauser with a surface ground front ring but I can't tell what yours is from the photos. He built some guns on Model 70s as well. Mine used a Blackburn trigger and I believe that he used Douglas barrels. I wish I had more info: he was a skilled craftsman, a real gentleman and his prices were extremely reasonable.
Sterling was featured in a very comprehensive chapter of the Gun Digest Book of Riflesmithing and, since you own the rifle, will probably find the piece interesting:

Interesting find, AKW. Beautiful rifle in a great caliber in the old school style (blued steel and walnut). Sadly, there is little chance of getting $3200 for such a rifle now-a-days.
Its the same rifle as shown by the OP, and I wonder if "asctournament" on the 'Fire is "57mistermoney" on Gunbroker. I hope has good luck with the sale, regardless.
My .280 Remington on a 1909 Argentine Mauser (DWM) was built by Sterling Davenport. Barrel is a Douglas as I recall. Paul B.
