I'm looking for a place to hunt waterfowl in either Manitoba or Saskatchewan. Years ago I hunted near Steinbeck Manitoba and we had a great time taking several varieties of geese and (mostly mallards) ducks. There will likely be four or five of us and we can bring our own decoys We need a place to set them and a hotel/motel within reasonable distance as well as a cafe/grocery store.

Can anyone help with advice as to places/people/other to get us aimed in the right direction?.....I'm looking for a 2019 time frame.

The Mossbank and Wynyard areas are popular with out of province hunters. We also have several outfitters for water fowl

saskfox;
Good morning to you sir, welcome to the 'Fire from the socked in south Okanagan.

I grew up on a farm east of Yorkton - well the closest towns were Calder, McNutt and Churchbridge, where I went to school and we got the mail.

Anyway there was some duck hunting back then, this is the '60's and '70's, but very few geese.

My elder brother is still on the farm there and says nowadays the snow geese will come in flocks that stagger the imagination some years. I believe he said they lost 60 acres to them a couple years back.

It's been so wet there in eastern Saskatchewan that the ducks are more plentiful now than I'd ever seen it when I was a kid.

Anyway to the OP, by all means look up the stickied thread at the top of this section for tips on crossing the medicine line with the least drama. There's been a lot of good information left there over the years.

Again welcome to you saskfox and good luck on your hunts this fall.

Dwayne

saskfox;
Indeed they would.

My brother used to host a group who came up from the midwest - I want to say Kansas??? - for an annual waterfowl hunt.

He was always happy to see them come up and thin out the flocks for sure. Said they were a good bunch of folks too.

A fellow from Idaho hunted geese on my land about 10 years ago. He stops in every year for a visit and ask if there are any birds around. Our area has been really dry for 3 years so there have not been many ducks or geese around.
