Checking some trail cameras and found this buck dead. No sign of a wound, but as it had started smelling, I didn't poke around too much. Don't think it was blue tongue, as I haven't heard of it being around this year. Would have been a nice one in a year or two.

Around here the coyotes would have taken care of it before it ever got to "smelling".

Around here the coyotes would have taken care of it before it ever got to "smelling". They were on it the next day. I was going to try and take the rack off, but the smell was already too much. So, I wired the rack to a tree, and will let the buzzards and coyotes pick the bones clean. I'll go back sometime in the late winter and retrieve the rack.

I've found a couple deer like that in the woods. They apparently just died with no visible wounds. It happens. Circle of life.
