The farmer called this morning and said that they stopped about 9pm when the dew started to form on the pods. Average yield at 9pm was 66 bushels per acre at 11% moisture. With 2 combines, 3 grain carts, and 2 semi-trailers working they cut around 220 acres with 35' heads in about 7.5 hours of run time. They broke an auger on one of the grain carts, but no other breakdowns yet. I'm on call to run parts from dealers east of Lincoln, NE, when needed.

Nearly everything around here was planted late. They started cutting rice and corn a few weeks ago. Most of the corn is gone now. I have not seen anyone cutting beans yet. Yields are down a little from normal.

Drove to a small town for dinner last night around 20 miles away (the ol lady likes it, clean, quiet and no urban types).
Quite a few combines taking beans.
Dusty, kinda screwed me up.

Curious, are these 66 bushel beans under a sprinkler?

Some of the bean s here took a beating from the early frost the first week of September. Early seeded went 49 bu and those seeded just a few days later in the mid 20s. Corn and flowers also damaged. Edk

Finished last night just ahead of some rain. Earliest I've ever been done with beans.
