Thinking of trying it with a 30-30. Store had a good supply of this so I picked up a pound.

What's your platform, and which bullet are you going to use?

Lever powder is on the slowest-burning end for powders that will work in the 30-30, and should work well with the heaviest of bullets in the 30-30. I've used it with 150's,160's, 165's, 170's. It has been as accurate as any other powder, and has produced the highest velocities for me. Max charge weight should be compressed or very close to it.

To be used in an old win 30-30. Bullet molded .310 170gn with a lee mold with either a gas check or powder coated.

I will upgrade mold if necessary and as lyman mold becomes available at a reasonable price.

I was laughed at when I asked rural king if they had 30-30 ammo. Just going to make my own. Just trying for moa coyote at 150-200 yards.

There are lots of good powders to try for that combo. Anything in the burn range of 3031 or 4895 or Varget or R-15 or 4064 should get you to 2200 and a bit more. Ball powders such as CFE223 and Lever and 748 will get you a bit more speed, but it won't be enough to change the trajectory enough to notice, and I've found they are temperamental with cast bullets. I have shot all of the above stick powders in 30-30 with several versions of a 165-170 grain mould that cast between 170 and 180 grains, from Lee and NOE, and I've had great results from all. Favorites are 3031 and Varget with the cast bullets.
