If Savage could just find a way to make some their rifles better looking........If I were to choose a Savage, the 110 Bear Hunter would be my choice.
They need better magazine system and bottom metal.
The bolt design should be simplified.
Only gripes I have with them. I grew up near a hardware store that had a big Pic of the Famous Savage Indian holding a Savage rifle. Imagine how the virtue nazis would handle that nowadays?
I picked a ultralite in 6.5CM up a coupke months ago and finally got around to scoping it and sighting it in. I had a Burris fulfield II 4.5-14X42 laying around so I put it on it and while I like the magnification range, I would like to go with something a little lighter. I was using factory hornady superformance 129gr sst ammo to sight the rifle in. It took 3-4 shots to get it where I wanted and then I shot the 5 shot group below. Target was at 100yds, and the squares on the target are 1". I didn't measure the group but it should be about .8 outside to outside of the holes. I fired one round after the other, taking only the time need to get back on my point of aim. I couldn't ask for much more out of the rifle accuracy wise.
Your gun is the third version Savage has put out in light rifles that just plain shoot great!
I had the first version they called the model 16 LWH (lightweight hunter) in 6.5 creedmoor that shot most any factory load well under an inch, now I have the second version the Savage 110 Storm lightweight Hunter in 7mm-08 at 5.65 lbs it shoots the same tiny groups over and over with factory ammo.
They didn't have a fancy carbon wrapped barrel but they were light and cost under $600 less than half what the 110 Ultralite.
