I have a CZ 457 Varmint that is printing groups in the .150/.200 range at 50 with multiple types of ammo.
And since I pirated the scope its currently wearing from my 700 Police, it is going to need one fairly soon.
Christmas at the latest.

I want to be able to run it out to at least 200 yards, and I want some sort of help from my reticle, be it mil-dots or an MOA tree (I favor MOA, simply because its what I'm used to).
Whatever I buy, I want the reticle units to match the turret units.

This is a recreational thing, not a competition thing. I don't need a Nightforce.
But I do want very good glass and very good mechanicals. Resettable zero is a big plus. So is side focus. And the more internal adjustment the better.

I will spend whatever I need to, but I'm really hoping that I can spend a modest amount.
I won't buy a scope made in China.

So I'm interested in a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44. From what I understand they are made in the Philippines with Japanese glass. Multiple retailers have them for around $300. An MOA reticle/MOA turrets version is available.

But I've never seen one, and I don't know anyone who runs one.
So I'm looking for input from you all.
Talk me out of it if you can. Talk me into something else if it makes more sense.

Thanks!

I have had a couple for quite a while, but not on rf. Only question I would have is close focus use.

The Diamondback Rimfire FFP would be the only Vortex better for your use... sadly, it is Chinese. Hard part is finding them. The local Cabellas and Sportsman's each had one Vortex scope in their cases, and they were an unusual high end model.

Yes, I found out last night that it only dials down to 50.

That's a problem for me. Some of the fun matches at the club are run at or start at 25 yards.

Yup, and a lot of the targets on close-range matches are little fly specs...

I have often wondered why so many AO scopes bottom out at 50 yards.
I suppose every marketing clown has to have their scheme to steer customers to whatever they're positioning as their "rimfire" optics.
Seems like an adversarial business perspective to me.

Actually, I think physics limits the range of adjustments and it takes significantly more for close range adjusting.

Could be. But when I think about marketing, I get cynical quick. 😁

25 is my minimum, 10 is just gravy...

That said, I will look into some of the other Vortex scopes, and see what Burris and Leupold have.

Any non-Chinese recommendations will be followed up on.
I have plenty of time to research.

Thanks again

Every glass cited thus far,is a steaming pile of fhuqking schit. Hint. Congratulations?!?

The Reupolds being especially fhuqking HILARIOUS. Hint.

The 6x MQ would be my first pitch. 10x MQ the 2nd. 3-15x FFP MQ 3rd...mainly because I have them all. Hint.

3-15x MQ FFP Annie 1827 Biathlon. Hint.

10x MQ's,on a goodle smattering of Splendid Wares. Hint.

6x MQ. Hint.

You reap an erector that actually fhuqking works, along with internals which retain zero, conjoined with an etched reticle that speaks the same language as the erector...coupled with 10yd parallax. If only for fhuqking starters. Hint.

Even on a fhuqking POS CZ. Hint.

Thank me later.
