Yes I remember having to dress up "nice" in uncomfortable clothes as a kid to go to church.
So everyone could compare status based on clothes on sundays...

And be bored as schitt doing the Roman catholic stand up ,sit down, kneel, pray, and walk up to get communion thing.
And all the focus on the Jesus art and statues in the church.
And the basket on the long rod handle thing being sent down the pew stopping in front of each person.
It was sooooooo important I was given a dollar by my mom to put in that basket.....

I was and am probably the worlds worst catholic....
But if I turn I burn according to their dogma required by their faith.

Cant be a switch hitter or pinch runner if your cathoilc...
Even when ya kick the bucket, ya gotta be buried, interred, or creamated in one of their approved outfits so they can get their cut, or you burn.....

The ‘religious’ leaders had Jesus crucified because they saw His New Covenant as a threat to their ‘religion’...and they had no problem leveraging violence for their ‘religion’. There was an incompatibility with the Old and New Covenants. It had nothing to do with faith or works, Jewish people thought they were saved by birth, based on what God’s covenant with Israel stated all those years ago. Peter, James (Jesus’ brother), and Paul saw that the Old Covenant and the New Covenant are incompatible as they relate to just about everything. They saw the difference and the conflict between the Old Covenant that they had grown up obeying (and trying to obey) their whole lives, and the New Covenant that had been launched by Jesus. They let go of God’s temporary and conditional covenant with Israel to embrace God’s permanent and unconditional covenant with all of the people in the world. They saw what some of their contemporaries failed to see, and they saw what some people still have a hard time seeing even today.

Jim, according to what I'm reading here, one must first pick a church so they knows which clothes to get.

Did you pick one or just going to the nearest?

Make sure you go by the place on Sunday (Saturday for some places) to see what folks have parked in the lot. You may want to wax up that 'burban so it's all shiny and such and not covered in cow crap, depending on the church that is.

Sunday mornings can be a bitch driving in some rural areas. You can tell by the looks of some cars/trucks they only get used to go to church and maybe to the grocery once a week. Kinda like some folks wearing their fancy clothes, they take the clean and garaged car.

I been thinkin' about joining some church. Done some drive-bys, since we got no Hutterites nor Mennonites,( who have the best food I'm told) it's kinda looking like the Mormons for the win, the delicious appetizing aromas are truly inspiring. If I could find a church that fed like the Mormons, but wore clean Carhartts..I think that would be my spiritual home.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

It is obvious the only true important thing to get there. Just curious about how other folks dress in church.

Hey! thanks for all the replies.

Undershorts first, then shirt, then socks, then pants.

Watch out for Lutheran Churches that have folks from the upper midwest.

You'll get hot dish, some green jello with the little marshmallows in it, and lutefisk for the holidays.

One leg at a time or both while sitting on the edge of the bed?

Left or right sock first? Same every time?

The Campfire needs to know these details.

I get wild and crazy and vary the order on the socks. In order to prove that nearly killing myself by falling over and hitting my head on the dresser when my toes got caught in my undershorts was a one-shot deal, I also don the pants from full standing.

You are 100% correct.

The strict mandated dogma of all aspects in life they dictate.
And all the scandals well known and publicly revealed.

Have turned off many catholics to attending church.
Aint turned em away from a belief in god, but have caused many of us to not tow the line for em or finance em.

All the pastors around here lately wear loose fitting clothes with shirts untucked. We attend several churches and also watch some services online. Looks sloppy to me.

I always tuck my shirt in. The Untucked fad is hard to understand why a preacher would dress like that but it does make concealed carry a lot easier.
