I'm just curious how many of the Flintlock shooters' here wear eye protection when practicing or testing or whatever?

I see folks doing it pretty regularly, mostly on the internet, which amazes me, personally.

Even the mildest suggestion about eye protection is seldom, if ever, well received so I usually keep my comment to myself. Usually.

As for me, I only have one eye. I'm pretty protective of it, so eye protection is a must. These days I need glasses to see well anyway, but even when I started with Flintlocks 38 years ago, I was religious about eye protection. Even had a pair of shooting glasses made with no prescription, clear lens for hunting!

I'm anal I know.

Not anal at all.

But I generally shoot flinters with no eye protection, makes no sense I know, 'cept maybe at reenactments.

I've been shooting flintlocks since long before they were common or popular, never an injury or discomfort. Luck? I can't say the same for caplock, where I always wear eye protection.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I don't shoot flintlocks without eye glasses. Afraid of tiny flakes of flint in my eye. I have period correct bi-focals for historic events.

This!!!

Never an issue with a flintlock
