Any of you guys have one?

I'm probably going to go pick one up Friday.

Going to use it to plow up, and renovate pastureland/hay fields.


Ought to work okay for that, shouldn't it?

We have 3, 2--12' and 1-- 16' Very handy piece of equitment for fire breaks, and fighting fire, plus farming. Rio7

I'm going with an 8' because of the oak trees in the area.

Thought about going a bit wider, but getting the disc between trees and fencelines and just in between trees is handy here.

Plus, charging an hourly rate, it'll take longer...

Already have one client that needs a hayfield turned over with it.

It's the wrong color, but it'll have to do....

Barry, That's a Damn good disc, 8' is great, we have a 6' we use to disc the roping arena, it's a 3 point we use a little J.D. 990, comes in handy for tight places, Green, ain't all bad that's the only color we have, it works. Rio7

Barry we have old 18'(?) MF offset disc that we use once in awhile when the weeds get too much for a toolbar.


They will churn up the soil for sure, especially if there is a little moisture in the ground.


Takes a little HP to pull one though if you work it deep.



We pull ours with an old 230hp(engine rated hp) Versatile 835.

Turned a lot of ground with a 14' Miller offset behind a 7030 Allis a lot of years ago. They do pull fairly hard if digging deep. Not too good for finish work even if you flatten out the angle some.

I'll be going pretty deep. Probably make a couple of passes on that guy's hay field.

From what I can gather, a rule of thumb is 10hp per 1 foot of width on the offset disc.... 10' o/s disc = 100hp tractor to pull it.



I believe you are right for the finish work.

I have a ridged harrow that should finish it great, after the offset.

OK what does the harrow with the steel bars do???

I've never pulled an offset disk, and never driven a Deere tractor.

On pastureland, as was photoed, it aerates the ground, scrubs dead grasses, and levels hog damage from rooting, and levels huge gopher mounds. (Down here we get gopher mounds as big around as a car, and 2-3 feet high... )

On plowed land, like after using the offset disc, it levels the ground, and breaks up big clumps/clods.

About 10 years ago we went with 14' Miller offset disc and did away with plowing entirely. Saves a lot of time and a lot of rock picking! But like it's been pointed out already, they aren't good for finish work. We hit ours with a cultimulcher afterwards for smoothing and covering seed.

Have always liked the spike tooth harrow for breaking up and cleaning up and spreading manure, in feed lot pastures, with the disc I run a 13' X 8' pipe with chains going to rings welded to the disc, as a drag that smooths out the field as i disc, when moving from pasture to pasture i pick up the pipe and cradle it on the back of the disc, easy to do and i don't normally have to work the field twice, saves time and fuel. Over 700 miles round trip yesterday to pick that disc up...

Getting too old for that.

Can I rent that harrow? I could get some use outta that.

I paid $200 for a 8 section Noble harrow in 2002, We've yet to use it.
