Any of you gents have real world experience with the Sako? Have heard nothing but good about the Seekins, but trying to decide between these two in the 6.5 PRC......both are more or less in the same price range......would appreciate any comments.

I have old Sako’s, all accurate, never a problem with any of them. I don’t know if the new Sako’s are as good as the L-61’s, but I like the old ones a lot.

Do you think pre Garcia's are better and more accurate?

Hanco, yes, I have seen some of the pics of your Sakos that you have posted, very nice stuff. The only one I currently have is a Black Bear in 9.3 X 62, and that one is a definite shooter as well, which is why I was intrigued when I saw the new S20.

I shot a buddies Sako A7 in 308 with his handloads consisting of 165g NABs. From prone with bipod I was able to shoot a .25" 4 shot group at 212 yards. The 4th shot is what made it .25" the other 3 were in 1 oversized hole. I am not that good and maybe it was a fluke that day and I can't do that with any of my rifles at 100 yards, but I have wanted one ever since. If they made it in a 6.5x55 I would have today. Believe me this is not a brag since I am not a person who does that.

I can't comment on the Sako rifle, every one I've owned (mainly 75's and Finnlights) have been great rifles. That said, if I had to choose to support Sako or Seekins I'd prefer my $ going to a home grown American company, and I say that with no dislike of Sako.

I do like the PH2 I've been shooting.

I can't wrap my head around the two piece stock of the Sako. I'm sure its fine. I was all over the Seekins, and then Springfield went ahead and introduced the Waypoint. So now I have to fondle all three.

Looks like a re-invented A7. A7's are serious shooters.

I have owned 4 A7's and every last one shot extremely well.




Remember Sako is unfortunately owned by Beretta, stock was probably designed by the same Michelangelo that did the Benelli Lupo.

It is a good point about Seekins being American made, they just seem to be very hard to come by in 6.5 PRC these days....

I don’t know if the pre Gracia’s are better than the new models. I’m thinking the new Sako’s are a fat bolt 3 lug design.

Sako makes fine rifles but this is pretty good....it ain't a MOA guarantee:

I have a few of the old Kleinguenthers. They guaranteed 1/2 groups with factory ammo.

That Springfield Waypoint does look interesting as well, had not been aware of that...…..decisions...….

I wouldn’t mind picking up a Seekins Havak Element, but apparently they are unobtainium, along with the requisite 6.5 PRC to get them to go bang. I’m sure that the Sako will be accurate, but will it have the much maligned long action ejection problems. Since they are making it in the PRC, I’m pretty sure Tikka will be following right along in their tracks as they use common barrels. First world problems...

Not the same action as the 85. It is PushFeed not CRF like the 85.

You are definitely correct on that one. I’m just speculating that if they bit on chambering the PRC in their Sako line already, then it’s probably likely they will produce a Tikka with it, given they already have the reamers and barrels for both. With all the aftermarket support for the Tikka, and what looks like a strengthening following for the PRC, they likely will sell quite a few of them if they produce them. I also could be wrong.

I have several of the older sakos and one model 75. All are accurate and 100% reliable.
