Haven’t heard from him yet, but good reports from folks hunting today with multiple bulls down, including a 15 year old girl who shot one weighing 975. No idea on antler width on that one. Hopefully Skinner got one down and is still dragging it out with his chainsaw winch...

Wishing you the best of luck! I finally gave up on the non-resident lotery a years back because they kept lowering the number of non-resident permits. I also finally sold my Marlin Guide Gun that I was going to use on the hunt. I have many good friends up there and may try to go bird hunting up there one year. It's a beautiful state!

Great area , route 11 and beaver brook road is your southwest corner . Hunted out of portage lake years ago .
Good luck Yep, nice area. That used to be my back yard growing up on the Moro Road cross from that massive yellow barn up on the big hill. Get homesick occasionally for the big Arroostok C ounty country. Had all the rivers, brooks and wooded trails a kid could ask for. Haying, picking potatoes kept the 22 lr stocked wirh 550 round bricks. Went feral out there. No money or economy out there in the 80s and 90s, especially for the Micmac folks. All we ever had was deer n moose meat, fiddleheads, brook trout, 50 lb bag ah taters and some flour. Went from stalking and calling bull moose, hitting them with a base ball, to hunting moose in Alaska. I remember promising myself at 8 yrs old: "if I can sneak up on these bulls and hit em with a base ball, I'm ready for Alaska! Ha!

I finally made it home from Maine. We hunted hard for the first 5 days but experienced heat, heavy rain, and high winds. I passed on a young bull at the start of day one then saw no more moose during daylight hours until Saturday morning. At 8:45 I took this bull at 130 yards. Not the biggest bull in Maine but one that I am glad to mount on the wall. I can’t figure out how to get the picture to transfer from the image gallery to here.

You need to rotate it before posting in the image gallery

Congratulations Skinner. That would have to be one helluva special hunt. I've only hunted waterfowl in Maine, and passed thru on vacation. But it is most definitely one of my favorite states.

Great job Kent! That is a very nice bull. I'm glad this hunt worked out for you, after not so great weather. Maine is a great place to be in the fall.

I was able to obtain tribal Maine Moose tag. I shot him with my Encore 450 Bushmaster loaded with 250 gr bonded Shockwaves. At 2580 FPS out of my 26” MGM barrel. 75 yards in the shoulder followed by a shot in the neck. He came in grunting to the call. It was a very cool hunt that I hope to do again someday.

Nice job on the moose hunts to both of you gentlemen. Looks like a grand time was had all around.
