Here's frogman's axe. I gotta say I'm pretty proud of this one. It'll do what's intended. Runes burnt deep to give grip. Started life as a 32oz ball peen, made a butterfly from the caterpillar.

BillyGoatGruff;
Top of the morning to you my cyber friend, I hope it's a tad sunnier in your part of the world than here at present and that all other aspects of life are aligned as you see fit.

Thanks for posting the photo of the latest creation from your forge, that's about as cool as it comes! cool cool cool

The downside that I can see however, is now I've got another thing to start scrounging for at flea markets - as well as figuring out a forge..... wink

Anyways sir, I really love how it turned out. Sincere kudos.

All the best to you all this fall and good luck on any remaining hunts.

Dwayne

Thanks for posting pics BGG! Ok, so here's the backstory.....

My Son, is proud of his Viking heritage, so I liked the Hawk/War Axe that BGG had made a prototype of, and figured I would inquire as to if he would make one for my son. Here's part 2 of the story, awhile back, my son had let our Rat Terrier , "Chance" out the back door to chase a fat Fox Squirrel that had been harassing him to no end. The Rat Bastid was being such a PITA, that my boy picked up a claw hammer laying on a bench there at the back door and threw it at said squirrel....and promptly knocked it off the tree where Chance immediately exacted his revenge for all the torment! Chance did what Rat Terriers do......and shredded that little menace. The Pot growing hippies next door witnessed this and starting shrieking....having a meltdown as it were over the demise of the poor little tree rat. My son retrieved his "Squirrel Hammer" and now keeps it on hand to use when needed for marauding tree rats.

So, as BGG and I are working on this project, I told him of this story. BGG came up with the idea of naming the axe, "Ratatoskar" the messenger Squirrel in Viking Mythology, that transports messages between Valhalla and Hell......so that's what we named the new "Squirrel Hammer"! LOL BGG used the Runes markings to name it so........

I can't wait to see the expression on my Son's face when he unwraps that gift!

Oh, and I arranged to buy the prototype for riding in my Work Truck.......in my day to day, I may come across a Gator, Hog, Bear, Crackhead.....no telling what else, and a handy Hawk might just be of use! LOL

That would look good as a piercing in the forehead of an Antifa punk.
Be a shame if it stuck and you lost it.

For that very reason, I asked BGG to put Thong holes on the handles.....to help with weapon retention! LOL

Of course, spike and axe but not the eye. Granted, it's not super hard, but you don't want it to be either.

Thanks for the kind words gents.

Dwayne, got snow on the ground and likely won't leave till next may. But our rifle season opens saturday so a little snow ain't a bad thing necessarily. smile Nothing funner than dinking around with a forge, anvil, and some hot steel. Go for it, it's a healthy addiction. Towel racks, coat hangers, all kinds of neat stuff a guy can crank out.

Well, one never knows what one will find when perusing fora one doesn't usually peruse.

Cool beans BGG,

frogger, you're a nice dude ordering up such a thing for your son.
