Thanks Mohawk, I was just curios. I have no problem with people leaving them for the other critters to chew on either. I know hogs are a big problem but sometimes I wish I could shoot some for the freezer anytime I wanted. I know, I should be careful what I wish for.
Some more organic free range pork from this past weekend.
I shot a 225 pound boar and he had no fat on him and was a little tough, maybe a little dry, but still good. The next year I shot a 150 pounder and it had a thick layer of fat, and was as good as any store bought pork. I made bar-b-que in the crock pot, then put a layer of pork chops on top of the bar-b-que and another layer of Sweet Baby Rays on top of the chops, let it simmer till done. The pot got wiped so clean I didn't have to wash it.
My guys went 3 for 3, my cousin went 1 of two. My Brother In Law took a nice 125 pound 7 pointer. He said there were 3 bucks together browsing. At first he only saw two, and he saw a deer lift it's head and it was a BIG 8 or better. Then it looked like it had reached it's head around almost to it's butt, and it looked smaller. After watching them he realized it was two nice deer standing head to tail, side by side. He said he watched them for an hour and the two big ones would not step apart. So, at 4:48, worrying about it getting dark, he shot the one closest, good clean heart shot. He said the other one was much bigger. I shot at 4:53 and he thought I got the big one. But, I got a typical 90 pound mountain spike. About 8AM John got the twin to my 90 pounder. John shot his with an AR in 450 Bushmaster, Erin got his with a Savage 111 in 270, and I used my old faithful 1950 R in 250. For those that have doubts about 100 GR Remington's not shooting straight. This gun loves them. Only about a 60 yard shot. Last week someone said if you shoot them in the ear, they will fall down. Well, I found out, if you shoot them in the left eye, they fall down too.
Just asking, but is that last picture a head/neck shot of a spike?

That’s the exit wound, the picture before that was the entrance wound. 250 in the left eye. Exit under right eye.
At long last my Savage 99 has taken another deer. The gun was my grandfather's, then my dad's until he died in 1988 when I was 14. My dad shot a 6-pointer that year, but died before the butcher was done with the processing. I hunted a little with it when I was young, but felt I needed to hunt with a scope and sling. Reluctant to drill it, I bought a used, scoped Remington 721 with which I hunted for 25 years. I'm very grateful to those on this site who showed me how I could modify the 99 without marring it permanently! The gun is a 99T with a Lightfoot mount, Leupold VX1 2-7x33 and Bayou Gun Sling. The deer is 7-points (5x2) and was taken in Fox Township of Sullivan County, PA. Hopefully the image link works... [img]https://imgur.com/FjJt4dj[/img]

I am sure your Grandfather and Dad are smiling down on you. That is a proper tribute. Keeping those classics hunting is the best way to display them and follow in their footsteps. Congratulations!!!
