It is very common surname in Germany.

Disappointing is fact that despite many members in SS and other key positions in Nazi hierarchy the Austrians as a country were not penalized for war crimes committed. To avoid spotlight they simply eliminated sites of camps on their territory and replaced them with small commemorative monuments.
Some Americans have strange infatuation with German ruling class from ca. 1933 to 1945. For example engraved Walther PP that belong to high ranking official brought in over $80000 on US auction. By comparison a Webley pistol that once belonged to Churchill sold in UK for about £5000.
Perhaps it is time to stop buying Glocks?

There's a place in my front lawn where some previous resident had a "decorative feature" with lava rocks and a light before we got rid of it. Now, it's a grave-sized grassy hump that I've always called the Hoffa.

Don't have time to watch it, but given how pretty much everything in Germany was blown to tiny bits it's not surprising that there'd be a few people unaccounted for.

I am inclined to say Müller would have had a crafty
escape plan that succeeded in throwing investigators
off his trail..
Many less capable high rank nazis
than Müller were able to elude capture.

I think he probably fooled everybody and never contacted his family. They were watched by many spy organizations. The good chess player had a system to get out and maybe used it. It is anyone's guess. But he most likely didn't want to go with Nazi ideologists. Not to South America. It was a good history lesson. Be Well, RZ.

Dozens of stories went around since the end of the war in Europe, about Martin Bormann having escaped. Finally identified his remains found buried in Berlin, decades later.

Müllers wife and children were already living in
the US occupied zone, and the soviets accused
the allies of hiding Müllers whereabouts.
Its not difficult to create an official narrative that
such a lower tier highly valuable asset cannot be
found.

One just needs to recall how hard the allies tried
to punish wanted nazis of high [post war] value.

SS-Obersturmbannführer Skorzeny who was the
leader of a mission in the Ardennes wearing
US uniforms was later tried and imprisoned, yet
unlike others in his team escaped execution, ..but
not only that, he later escaped his imprisonment
when some SS (again dressed up as Americans),
busted him out of prison.

You'd think they would be extra careful with such
an operator, but it's seems the allies did their
best to see Skorzeny escape any punishment.
He had too much to offer the west post war to
see him in a grave or lingering in prison, even
Israel came knocking on his door in the 1960s
seeking his highly specialized services.

Ever wonder how the war would have turned out, had Hitler not attacked Russia, instead shored up his eastern borders with defenses, and concentrated on his fight with the Western Allies?

Hitlers strategic aim in the east was Ukraine
as a food bowl and Caucasus for Oil.
without such critical resources how long
would/could Germany last?

Axis forces going east were told to live off
the land coz of serious food shortages and
oil reserves were according to numerous
knowledgable heads in Germany, good for
about two months in the event of an eastern
offensive... Oil production/supply at this time
was put at only 18% of European Axis needs.
The allies themselves knowing how critical
the oil situation was for Germany, had planned
to bomb the Soviet oilfields in the Caucasus.

The narrative that the soviet winter primarily
stopped Germany from success in the east,
is too simplistic.
