Stewing hen? She get old and stop laying? Hutterite special. Speaking of Hutterites, the one important thing I learned when I moved to Montana is that them Hutterites sell good food. Sweetest carrots I've ever tasted are the Hutterite ones at the farmer's market.

Carrots so sweet you hate to put them in the soup? Exactly! These carrots are for eating raw, not cooking. Funny you mention that. I cannot bear the taste of raw commercial carrots. Never have been able to since childhood. Always just thought it was me. Could tolerate them cooked and sorta liked them "candied". Then I grew some, knowing I could put them in stir fry and stew and such. Man, was I in for a surprise. I haven't planted any at this place as the dirt in my garden beds sucks some for root veggies. But next year a part of the garden will be across our seasonal creek in the bottom land dirt. I expect good sweet carrots. Our local farmers market has some good ones at times. I can eat them raw.
