That wasn't a big mountain lion, and they aren't hard to kill. Even a 38 Special would have been adequate. I picked up a Taurus 856 with a 3" barrel recently and that would have been very handy.

She could smell the fear in him. I would have gone about 100 feet, to get away from the kitten, and stopped, and growled and started throwing big rocks at her.

He sounded like a sissy. "Don't hurt me, Dude."

What would the possum cops have said about the cat properly "processed" for being that aggressive..?

Would the jogger be in more trouble than the cat, or the other way around.?

I believe that would vary from state to state. Most of adult life was in Alaska and there you are totally capable of defending your life and property (DLP) against an animal. They will investigate but for the most part unless you do something stupid you are probably going to get off. I remember one guy got in trouble shooting a bear from the deck of the 2nd floor of his house. How could he have been in fear for his life up there?

In the black bear reintroduction program here in Louisiana, some claim you'd better have some teeth marks to show when you cap one of those in self defense. The fines, reportedly are really stiff.

They're a nusiance at the deer camp, tearing up stuff. One hunter was in a tree stand with a bear at the foot of his ladder. He wasn't sure what to do.... Bear finally moved on and this guy came down the ladder gingerly, hot footed it to his ride, made a quick trip to the camp.... wink

At dim light, it's sometimes hard to differentiate a bear from a hog. Gotta be sure before you pull the trigger....

True that. Who knows how many times he's run that trail. Yet he didn't have a gun when he needed it.
