I thought it was fairly impressive that the cop didn't panic. He just reached up and pushed the gun to the side while he took care of the threat,....didn't even flinch.

That guy was cool as a cucumber. Very impressive. I’d say that’s probably not the first time he’s been involved in a high stress situation. Good on him.

I bet the cop had a stiff drink or two when he got off work,...and I don't blame him if he did.

Bristoe;
Good afternoon to you sir, I hope all is as well as you'd like it to be in your part of the world.

Thanks for the video, it's both educational and instructive to see what a trained human is capable of.

In part of his duties as a LEO, a buddy of mine did a lot of one handed draw and shoot drills even though it wasn't departmental doctrine. He was telling me that another officer asked him why he did that and he replied that quite often when he needed to draw his duty arm, his other hand was busy holding onto a scofflaw miscreant...

Truly of course Bristoe, he like as not used a different term, but the concept conveyed is solid and this officer proved that competency with one handed draw and shoot might well save one's life.

Thanks again and all the best to you all this fall.

Dwayne

Yeah, it looked like there was some muscle memory involved. I'd say that he's had some practice.

Also, he was on the radio saying "shot's fired" before the guy stopped bouncing.

I thought he was going to have to shoot the younger one that was going to run up on him. He will live a little longer at least. I always worried that the department I worked for never trained us well enough for just a similar situation at this. I took crooks to court and medical outcounts as well as regular transfers. You never know when someone will be STUPID in a NO STUPID ZONE! I have done lots of training on my own. My employer only did the minimum training their lawyers told them they HAD to do. No extra anything. We only shot 66 rounds a year to qualify. Scary isn't it? Be Well, RZ.

Training Bristoe, it gives one confidence in their actions.

I was to this guy one time about his self defense training classes and he was trying to convince me to take it. He tells me to come to the back room with him so into the backroom we go, he unholsters his pistol takes the mag out and clears it, he hands it to me and says clear it and I want you to point it at my face and when I make a move shoot me with it, O.K., so I'm standing there and he's telling me that he's about to take it away from me and shoot me with it.

So I'm thinking I have the advantage because he's giving me all the info suddenly he grabs e gun turns it around and pulls my finger and makes me shoot myself in the neck.

The training was all based on the premise that "action is always faster then reaction". He made a believer out of me and I signed up for the class but before I could take the class he left town be cause of some marital schit.

From what I was told this training was taught to him by the Israeli army. I wouldn't be surprised if law enforcement used a lot of this type of training.

And yes that cop had it together for sure.

Great vid, thanks for posting. That cop is good, deflected the BGs gun while drawing from at least a level 2 holster and fired from retention to extension 3 times in about 1/2 a heartbeat and immediately called it in.
He demonstrated the value of training, practice and most of all MINDSET.

Real life is not easygrin

That officer has his sheit together! Apparently not his first rodeo! That other idiot is damn lucky that cop had a cool head or he would've been dropped also! This would make a great LE training video.

I thought the bad guy shot once and the cop shot twice.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.
