There are guys in my deer camp who can afford $3500 easier than I can afford $350. They're not $3500 scope type guys however. One has a large Zeiss Victory on an inline muzzle loader though.

That’s just the starting price for thermal scopes, which it seems every hog hunter either has or wants. They get a lot higher then that and lots of folks have them now.

I'd rather have a nightforce than a new door for the excavator for $4200. Everything's expensive nowdays.

They are as bad as new truck prices!

At least your excavator can make you money these scopes are just for playing games.....which I'm not opposed to just pointing it out.

If it enhances your performance, you bet. I look at Scenarshooters gear and the result that he gets and it makes sense. His gear wouldn't help me find the critters though, unfortunatelygrin

Yes.

My first US Optics was $2600, and that was 9 years ago.

If you have limited hunting time, shooting in low light, go on expensive guided hunts, travel across country or believe what you are shooting at deserves the best, then spending more for a scope could be Justified. I’m not sure increased cost equals increased performance and a lot of great lower cost options out there. $3,500 for a hunting scope seems high but for competitions, maybe not.

I believe in quality, but scopes is one of those areas where you can get 98% of the performance for 1/10 the the price. Arguably, everything after that is vanity.

Of course they are! Don't you understand that quality is directly related to cost? "You get what you pay for!"

My experience proves one gets what one shops for. My Swarovskis, all four of them, were not as good as my Nightforce which cost less. By not as good, I mean daylight not as clear on my optics chart, I mean low light by several minutes, and absolutely tracking. The first time I tried to sight in the z5 5-25X52 I finally kept I moved the turret twelve clicks to get three inches at 100 yards. The next three shots made the three shot group a six shot group. Then I moved it twelve clicks and it moved six inches. Twice I had to send it in for new erector. Now that I remembering, the same thing, except for the tracking applied to my Leupold VX-6 4-24X52. Both cost more than the Nightforce.

Yeah, my competition scopes (March) are north of $3000, and they are worth it on the line.

Ready on the right: Not to me!
I get EVERYTHING done, that I need done, with scopes costing 1/7th (one seventh!) that much!
And I Hunt virtually year round and target shoot a LOT!
I would NOT even consider spending that much on a single scope.
To those that choose to do so - more power to them.

Have you ever looked through a top tier optics? I find that most hunters only use their riflescopes for a few seconds and one of the reasons I don't really hunt is there is just not enough shooting in hunting and I like to shoot.

"Target Shooting" is meaningless and usually confined to 100 yards.

I spend my time shooting 1000 yard competitions and dealing with mirage and other atmospherics. When you get behind a riflescope and look through it for a straight half hour, you soon learn to appreciate top tier glass in riflescopes. Hunters like to spend more on off-gun optics. Competitors do the reverse; my spotting scope, a nice Kowa, is less than a third of my competition riflescopes.
