Butternut squash soup, strip loins, a bit of leftover turkey and the best darned Caesar salad I’ve ever made! Have to remember what I did, for next time.

32 oz. Porterhouse has been warming for about forty minutes now. I'm about to start the charcoal in the chimney.

Beef barley soup made with Wagyu beef shank (awesome), followed by ham, scalloped potatoes, Caesar salad and smoked Mac and cheese, along with Slavyanka’s homemade sauerkraut. And lotsa vodka - Beluga, straight from Russia.

Homemade kraut here too. Found a butcher shop I'd heard about up in the big town the other day. Picked up some of their North Country German Sausage along with some other stuff. Figured it would go good with the kraut that was still bubbling.

Most everything local in tonight's dinner, some stuff really local. Mashed taters from my garden (milk and butter from the store, no cow here), kraut from my cabbages, apples in the kraut from my rancher neighbor's trees, and finally the sausages from not too far away (100 miles or so, which is kinda local out here).

Looks good. I love sausage n’ kraut like that. Slavyanka uses apples in her kraut, too.

The Wagyu is actually local, about 5 miles from my office. Japanese guy’s father started the farm 30 years ago. Took them 2 years to import the stock through the US. For some reason they couldn’t bring it straight into Canada.

My buddy picked up some Wagyu strip loins a while back and he got this shank for $5/lb. He asked me if I wanted to try something with it and the first thing that came to mind was beef barley soup. He loves beef barley and said that this was the best he’s ever had. He even had seconds, which is something I never see him do.

Today was our 41st anniversary. I made a pot roast. Diced potatoes, turnips, onions, and baby carrots.

I enjoyed it!!!
