The dog destroyed my wife's nice down comforter, so she told me to pick up a blanket that could withstand the dog. Thinking a nice wool blanket. Any suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete

You didn't say what size blanket you're looking for, nor the size or your price range, but this one would be hard to beat:

Witney? Excellent Quality Wool Blanket

Good deal on this Hudson's Bay 8-Point, but still expensive:

Hudson's Bay Blanket

This one's nice too:

John Atkinson Blanket

You might also check out flea bay. There's lots of good new and used Hudson's Bay, Pendleton, military and other quality wool blankets for decent prices. Look for Earlys of Witney blankets too - they're rather nice.

Filson makes a real nice 26 oz Mackinaw blanket as well.

Filson Blanket

Among my many blankets is this gem: Bulgarian Military Blanket, which is incredibly thick and soft, but it's not very big, good price, though.

Keep in mind that all these wool blankets are very warm and it needs to be pretty 'gol-danged cold or else you'll bake under may of these blankets.

I don't know if any of these are dog-proof and you didn't say what kind of dog you have. I wouldn't think dogs would like munching on wool too much, but if you have a Lab, all bets are off.

Lol!!!
Dog proof blanket???
If they wanna chew something, they are gonna chew it up.
The solution is not provide the opportunity or give them something better to them to chew on.
Or just realize they are " dogholes" doing it on purpose to mess with your mind...

I dont know how many times I would leave to go out hunting or run around town.
Come back home and the " dogholes" tear out the stuffing from a blanket just for schyts and giggles.
Look like a stuffing storm hit the floor.
Pick up all the schit while they are looking at ya.
Scold all 3 of em, and a good smack on the top of the hips for all 3 of em.
Mass punishment.
Think they would learn..
Fugg no...
Game they play with ya and ya dont know which one or ones were doing it.
Lol!!!
Thank god for goodwill 2 and 3 dollar doggy blankets....

Brought em a goodwill doggy couch for down in the man cave.
Once they chewed up the cushion edges, stuffing , coil springs, fabric all over the floor. And got it modified to how they wanted it .
Every day come back, be some new mod done to it...
They stopped once they got it the way they wanted it.
Covered it with " new goodwill blankets, which they didnt chew up.
Dogs are a trip.......
WTF???
LOL!!!

" Dogholes".........

Young dog?

Our 10 month old is still chewing crap so to cover the bed in the back bedroom I bought four "el cheapo" blankets from the Walmart until he settles down.

If he destroys them we're not out much. Good blankets are put up in the linen closet.

If we leave the house, bedroom doors get closed, the couch has a big thick relatively inexpensive bedspread sort of thing on it, then a 'dog blanket" or two covering that.

I keep asking my wife to remind me why we got a puppy again. (dog folks will know........and understand)

My bad, sorry for not mentioning the size. Looking for king size. We'll behaved lab, just hard on down comforters. Looking for a wool blanket. If I could find the Woolrich Hudson’s Bay 8 Point Wool Blanket at that price I'd already have it on my bed. If anyone knows where it is on sale please let me know. Not looking for used and want something nice.
Thanks,
Peter
