Let's say Biden withdrew, stepped down, or whatever today. What happens with the ballots already cast for him? They still count ( but realistically for nothing) , just like a write-in, I would imagine. Of course, they would all be screaming for do-over. Or "asigned" to the inserted Dem straw person..

The ballots cast for Biden, go to Biden, even if he withdraws from the race today.
And in three weeks, can replacement ballots be distributed with another name in the demo slot for all the rest of us still left to vote?

It's to late, the dice are cast! With mail in and early voting lots of votes have already been cast and you can't swap them to the new candiate, they stay with Biden, alive, dead or replaced. Any move now would be the end.

With mail in and early voting lots of votes have already been cast and you can't swap them to the new candiate, they stay with Biden, alive, dead or replaced. Any move now would be the end. Right. The Democrats have their horse for this race. The Republicans have really pulled a cat out of the bag with this surprise move of exposing he Biden emails. They held their fire until the Democrats couldn't back out. The Democrats may yet win but they have to do it with Biden.
