I’ve got an unused Saeco flat nose gas check mold that should work dandy I’d make you a good deal on it and you can cast your own. Otherwise I don’t know, when I had a 444 I shot lead bullets in it but never bought them since I cast.

I am..........disturbed.

Concerning the difference between man and the jackass: some observers hold that there isn't any. But this wrongs the jackass. -Twain

Paco Kelly liked the RCBS gas-checked version of the Keith SWC over 335 in his 444's. I've had great experiences with the NOE 265 WFN w/GC. I also have the NOE version of the Lyman 290 that shoots very well.

That twist rate will let you shoot anything up to 400 grains. Do you cast your own, or are you looking to buy some cast bullets? Is your goal mostly deer hunting, and if so, what ranges do you typically expect to shoot at game?

I’m looking to buy some cast bullets, mostly deer hunting and probably won’t shoot over 150 yards.

Yeah...without having at least a fair understanding of whether your bore is closer to .429" or closer to .432" (as my Ballard-rifled Marlins are), you'll be pissing in the wind. I hammered an egg sinker through the bore, then measured it with a micrometer (but a caliper works fine) to get my bore dimension. Should be easy to do in the single shot.

I shoot nothing but cast in my 444. Most of what i shoot i cast myself, Lee 310 grain bullet works great, as does the NOE Ranchdog clone. For store bought bullets I have experience with both Beartooth, and Laser cast. Both make good bullets but I prefer the Beartooth. Bullet diameter is important, my rifle is a Marlin and .332 is what it likes. Good luck.
