Was over pretty quick for me this year. Oregon season opened today, hens of toms. Hunt a 40 acre property surrounded by bigger areas. Been hunting this for 3 years and know it pretty well. Picked my spot, I was pretty sure they would be by sometime. Sunrise was 7:28, cold, 38, and very foggy. About 8:30 they came out of the trees. Used my 20 gauge o/u and TSS shot, magic stuff, expensive but when you get two with one shot and fill both tags....

Congrats! I always enjoyed fall turkey hunting. The October woods are spectacular, the fall colors and all. It's a low pressure hunt and just fun to do. Especially with the wife or kids. I tend to not use my normal Benelli M1 12 gauge turkey gun and hike around with something like my old Browning Auto Five 20 gauge instead. Kee Kee Kee Yelp Yelp!

Fall hunts are my favorite.. I usually use a small bore rifle, but have shot lots with the shotgun..

Congrats on your turkeys!

Got mine last Saturday, on my farm. Earlier in the morning, called in two coyotes, took them out with my .22 Hornet, then this turkey on my way back to the truck. Turkeys in our area are all Rio Grandes.
Great morning.

That’s great! Wish we could hunt turkeys with a rifle. 22 hornet is a perfect cartridge for it.
Thought there would be more people hunting turkeys this fall.

Thanks, 35. Yes it is. It has beautiful wood on it, hard to see in that picture. Bought it at Cabelas in Sidney, Nebraska in 2000. Bought this 12 gauge the year before. They have been very good, reliable shotguns.

Nice job Dad!
Thought I'd share your granddaughter's pic from a couple years ago scoring a double with her 20G.
