I was paging through my Hornady reloading manual the other day and was kinda impressed with its ballistics. It’s kinda the modern day equivalent of some old cartridges like 6.5x52 and 6.5x54, with lighter bullets of course.

I might have to look for a Ruger American.

I've got a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Grendel... its rough and not real well finished at first... but it cleaned up, and the action is getting smoother...in short order the accuracy went from poor to pretty darn good...

I started handloading from the start... bought some factory ammo, mainly it was almost as cheap as just buying a box of brass for it...

Ran bullets from 85 grains to 140s out of it... about any powder good for the 223, works well from it...

I don't usually think the Hornady Brass is very durable...I've got two batches of 10 that have been loaded 10 times already..
with the 140 Speers, and a charge of 29.5 grains of W 748, the chrono told me the velocity from the muzzle was 2400 fps..

a little more than the 30/30 with 150s in it...

it shot everything well... my list of favorites in it, has boiled down to W 748, AR Comp, Benchmark and H 322.. and 2015 BR..
for both accuracy and velocity....

bullet weights from 120 to 140 grains, it will reach out there considering max of 30 grains of powder...

I'm enjoying playing with it and seeing what it will do...right now on top, its carrying a Bushnell AR 223 scope in 3 x 12...
the features for the field use, were a little better than the Leupold 3 x 9 I first put on top..

if you pick one up, I think you'll like it...

I’ve got a 6.5 Grendel AR, with an 18” PSA upper. With PPU 120 HP it shoots lights out. I put 4 shots in a 3/8” group at 101 yards and pulled the fifth shot, making it a 7/8” group. With that being said, I looked at a CZ 527 last night in 6.5 Grendel, neat little rifle. The same store also had a Ruger American in 7.62x39. I liked the feel of the CZ a lot more, it was over $200 more than the Ruger as well. If I had an extra $700 laying around, I would have taken the Grendel home with me.

I've got an Aero precision Grendel, Ruger American predator that takes the AR magazines, and just recently built a 10 and a half inch barreled pistol upper 2 rifle shoots sub Moa easily. pistol shoots well good enough too short for me to sand bag I can't do a great job with so it's probably shoots better than I do.
123 Eld and 123 match games shoot about the same for me. Running 8208. CCI 450 s. I do have another load of Nosler ballistic tip 120 s for deer hunting do quite well also. A note on the pistol it does need a adjustable gas block.

We have 3 around the place.

They shoot between 100 -123 grain bullets real good.

The pigs don't like them, those controlled chaos bullets.

I have two 6.5 Grendel rifles in the safe right now. One is an AR with a 18" Faxon barrel and it shoots well. The other is a 22" Howa Mini and it shoots exceptionally well. I have had excellent accuracy with XBR 8208 and CFE 223. I've got a friend who will soon be testing the Remington 120gr PSP-CLs on some feral hogs. Subscribe and stay tuned.

The Grendel is very comparable to a classic loaded 257 Roberts.

100gn bullet at just under 3000fps is very doable from a 22in barrel, as it was from the 257 Bob.

I liken it to the .250 Savage, but with better bullets. The 129gr ABLR and 120gr Gold Dot can be driven fast enough for good expansion way out past where I’d ever shoot at a deer. Have yet to whack one with it, but it’s been out once this year, and will get more chances soon.

The CZs are very nice rifles, but I prefer the Mini with a hinged floorplate. The Mini I have also outshoots the 527 I had earlier, but not by enough to really matter in the field.

Just think how much more you'd like the 6mm arc

The ones we have are Ar-15's.

Always thought a light weight bolt rifle would be good to have.
