Figured I'd ask on here. I listed this for my boss on the classifieds and seemingly not getting much interest. Asking for some help moving this fine piece. He has almost 5K in Turnbull's restoration alone. Thanks for the help. Kinda out of my area of expertise.

Yes and yes,

You have to hope that a buyer is looking for “that rifle” in “that caliber”, and at the level of investment he’s asking for this rifle.

At that price point - you’re in the market level to buy an original Winchester in collector condition.

Turnbull does great work, he’s 15 minutes away from my in-laws, and I’ve seen some great work in his shop.

But - IMHO- his work is targeted at investors that want a one of one, and can afford it. This year - the gun market is not focused on collecting, it’s focused elsewhere.

So - yeah, a sale like is tough anytime, tougher this year by far.

I agree with AH...yes and yes.

One can get a Turnbull lever action in a non-obsolete cartridge for basically 1/2 the price. (45 colt or 45/70).

One could buy an 1876 in a non-restored state for collector value with the advertised price or maybe better.

One could get an 1876 in 45-60 (or other cartridges) from Uberti for like 1/3 the price if you pay msrp.

And, when I look at the linked add, the pics are so small...I can't even read the Turnbull paperwork. Could be a browser thing, could be user error...

Sorry for being so callus, it's like someone showing you a tattoo of their girlfriend and me saying 'wow nice werewolf tattoo'...but that is some of what you're up against trying to sell this rifle.

Maybe Turnbull can sell it on consignment for you? Or some other gunroom that sells Turnbull and higher end guns...so you have that audience already looking with disposable income in their pockets seeing a deal and grab it.

Good Luck,

LW
