Leather/ GoreTex upland boots leak after decade of use in the Fall. Now that they are properly broken in, I want to avoid having to break in new boots. And wet feet piss me off.
Thinking waterproof socks as a work-around. What brands have worked for you? Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Have used vapor barrier socks in very cold environments, but believe in getting into the habit of changing socks frequently. Allows you to actually *remove* the accumulated water with each change of socks.
"Waterproof" socks can be a barrier depending on its rating, but may as well just wear wool.
Keep the feet as clean as possible, use moisturizing lotions/protective coating in harsh conditions.
Wool/wool blend spares don't weigh much.
BTW, typical Goretex/leather boots are designed for limited seasons use. If trips are likely to encounter really wet areas, would recommend a rubber-type with or without insulation "muck" boot. "Sno-Pak"-type boots work well, too.
For severe terrain more of a "mountaineering" boot may be better for your feet in winter.
