Yesterday was my first hunt. Shot a limit of seven, four mallards three teal. A hawk took one of the teal off the water before I could retrieve it. I did not count that one in my bag limit. Would you have?

Yes. Simply because it was a confirmed kill. Does not make me any better/worse than anyone who does not count it, but I do the same with doves and partridge I can not find that fell to my shot.

Two more hunts on the same pond yielded 2 pintail, 4 mallards, 6 teal, and a Canada goose. The geese are starting to arrive. Looking forward to hunting the corn fields.

My freezer is filling up fast. Haven't had any limits but a lot of days where I get a goose, a few ducks, or both.

A ‘bag limit’ is a bag limit. If I can’t find them, the dog can’t find them, the eagle got them, or the otter or gator ate them.....well, it never got to my bag.
